About me
A developer with a designer's eye and a sysadmin's habits.
I've been building for the web since 2016. I started in Electronic Engineering, switched to Business Administration at the University of Brasilia, and along the way side projects turned into Acheme, a small web studio where I learned the whole job at once: talking to clients, designing layouts, writing PHP and fixing servers at night when something went down.
A year in technical support at Hostinger International taught me to troubleshoot WordPress, DNS and hosting problems for customers all over the world, in English, every day. Earlier in my career I also worked at The Walt Disney Company, Banco Central do Brasil, Cooperforte and Itaú.
Since 2021 I've been at ENFAM, where I look after the institution's whole web presence: the main portal, event sites, the ENAM exam portal, the Renejum course calendar and the newsletters. What I care about most there is turning an institutional platform into a digital product that is clear, accessible, useful and easy to maintain.
I'm finishing a postgraduate certificate in UX/UI and Digital Products at the end of 2026. Next, I want a remote role where I do more than build pages: understand the problem, design the solution, define the architecture and take part in product decisions.
How I work
- Problem before code. Before building anything I want to know the goal, who will use it, whether there's a simpler way, and how it will be maintained.
- Plan in writing. When the architecture is uncertain, I write the full spec in Markdown and version it with the code. I check endpoints, limits and selectors before writing an integration, never against assumptions.
- Cost and predictability over elegance. My translation plugin went from a paid API to a self-hosted stack and back to a managed API behind a quota guard. The criterion was guaranteed zero cost and less to operate.
- Built to move. I've specified the same feature in Node.js and in PHP, with the same output and database schema, so a hosting change wouldn't lose any work.
- Accessible and mobile-first from day one. WCAG, contrast, semantic HTML and screen readers are part of the plan, not a fix at the end.
- Clean, scoped code. Vanilla JavaScript over jQuery, BEM with a project prefix, WordPress Coding Standards checked with PHPCS, and CSS and JS scoped so a plugin never leaks into the header, menu or sidebar.
- Fail loudly. I'd rather ship a fallback that says it degraded than a script that pretends it worked.
- AI where it earns its place. I integrate OpenAI and Anthropic APIs into WordPress and automation workflows when they save real work.
Outside work
I like knowing how things work, down to the mechanism. I'm restoring a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and took its V8 apart myself. I ride a Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, hike the Cerrado, the savanna around Brasilia, sew my own backpacks and gear, and tinker with ESP32 electronics and mesh radio. I also play guitar and sing, and keep up with tennis, the gym and yoga.
Side projects I keep coming back to: manager, a task app where priority comes from comparing each new task with the ones already on the list, and a browser RPG inspired by the Fighting Fantasy gamebooks.
